Do this first

2.Do not touch contaminated water without PPE.
3.Turn off HVAC to prevent contamination spreading.
4.Do not attempt DIY cleanup of sewage backups.
5.Call us — proper Category 3 cleanup needs containment and antimicrobial treatment.

Do not let children or pets anywhere near the affected area.
Do not use a shop-vac or household vacuum — it aerosolizes contaminated water.
Do not run the furnace or AC if returns can pull air from the contaminated space.
Do not handle soaked materials without gloves and eye protection; wash immediately if skin contacts the water.
Do not mop it into the floor drain and call it handled — Category 3 water contaminates everything porous it touched.
Do not run water or flush upstairs if the backup is active — you are feeding it.
