How long does structural drying take?

Most residential water losses dry in about 3–5 days of continuous equipment operation — but the honest answer is: until the moisture readings say every material has reached its dry standard. Class of loss, materials (hardwood and plaster dry slow; carpet and pad dry fast or get removed), temperature, and how soon drying started all move the number.

The equipment placement is engineered, not decorative: air movers push moisture out of materials into the air, dehumidifiers pull it out of the air, and daily readings at fixed monitoring points prove the trend. When a material plateaus, the setup changes — that is what the daily monitoring visit is for.

Do not let anyone — including yourself — shut equipment off early because the room "feels dry." Surface-dry and structurally dry are different states, and the gap between them is where mold and warped flooring live.
